For anyone who has failed to get the hours required for renewal of licensure, they can go to The Distance Learning Center for Addiction Studies. There is a charge starting at $40.for 3 CEU's and can be taken online at their site.

Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals (TCBAP) has undergone a name change. To be more inclusive of all our certifications we are now the Texas Certification Board (TCB).
Texas Certification Board
The Texas Certification Board is an autonomous arm of the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals.The certification board is committed to the setting of counselor standards and protection of the public good.
Effective July 1, 2019 TCB will be certifying Re-Entry Peer Specialists with the purpose of creating a workforce for individuals who have been previously incarcerated. For more detailed information please visit Frequently Asked Questions - ViaHope

- Administers licensure and certification examinations;
- Certifies providers of continuing education;
- Monitors and enforces counselor ethics; and,
- Works to promote counselor reciprocity.

Mission Statement:
TAAP seeks to promote the advancement of Addiction Professionals by uniting alcoholism and other addiction counseling professionals throughout Texas.
TAAP will organize and charter local chapters in Texas, and assist in stabilizing and increasing their membership, by means of legislative initiatives, promotional campaigns and professional networking opportunities.
TAAP will promote awareness of the disease of chemical dependency and other addictions and compulsive behaviors.
TAAP will advocate for standards for licensure and certification of qualified counselors to ensure the competency basis of those who counsel alcoholics and other addicts and their families and assure a high order of professional standards and ethics among those in the addictions counseling profession.Mission Statement

Useful Information
The El Paso Chapter -Texas Association of Addiction Professionals (TAAP) would like to extend a warm invitation to all students attending the learning institutes, majoring in public service fields to attend our workshops. Earn 3 CEU's (Continuing Education Credits) for each workshop you attend. CEU’s can be used for the renewal of the following licensures: Qualified Credentialed Counselor (QCC) including LCDC, LPC, LMSW, LMFT, Licensed . Psychologist, Licensed Physician, Certified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN), Licensed Psychological Associate, and the Advance Practice Nurse recognized by the Board of Nurse Examiners as a clinical nurse specialist or nurse practitioner with a specialty in psyche-mental health (APN-P/MH). You do not have to be a member of TAAP to attend the workshops.
